How DitY Auto Repair was Conceived

The idea for Do-it-Yourself Auto Repair, LLC, and DIY auto repair for civilians was conceived by US Army MAJ (Ret) Jesus Verdejo, Jr. when he would take his Volkswagen New Beetle, race car to the Ft. Belvoir Auto Craft Shop for repairs and installation of after market performance parts. His son, Army Reservist, SGT Jesus Verdejo, III, and his daughter, Angelie, would help him out installing auto parts and replacing stock parts for performance parts.

Custom performance parts included getting their hands dirty breaking the transmission down to its gears to install a limited slip differential (LSD), (posi-traction), a job that took them a week to perform. Some of that particular custom auto work was done at the Ft Belvoir Auto Craft Shop, and some of that customization and auto repair work took place in his garage.

Do-it-Yourself Auto Repair for Everyone

Jesus, Jr always wondered why was there no similar do-it-yourself auto repair facility in the local economy for civilians. Imagine an auto repair place for everyone who needs to use the facilities of an auto repair shop where they could just go and rent a bay with or without a lift, and fix their cars like the ones on military posts around the world!

Unlike shade tree auto repair, imagine indoor auto repair with an ASE Certified Mechanic on staff as your buddy to help out with advice for more complicated do-it-yourself auto repairs. And if you can’t or don’t want to Do-it-Yourself the ASE Certified Mechanic is there to perform the maintenance or repairs at regular shop rates.

It was several years later that his brother, Army 1SG (Ret) Oscar Verdejo, a mechanic by trade, after military retirement, whom also tinkered with his 1964 vintage Volkswagen Beetle race car, came to Jesus Jr. to see if Jesus would help him buy an auto repair shop from a very close friend’s widow. She had no interest in keeping the auto repair shop left by her late husband, so the do-it-yourself auto repair idea that had been brewing in Jesus’ mind finally took footing.

Company Structure and Expansion Plans

Do-it-Yourself Auto Repair, LLC was formed as an Limited Liability Company on January 8, 2009 in the State of Florida. DitY Auto Repair opened for business on March 1, 2009 in its first location in Kissimmee, Florida.

The future expansion plans extend beyond do-it-yourself auto repair for civilians in Central Florida, DitY Auto Repair will announce new locations and the opportunity for franchise owners in the USA, and perhaps worldwide, as we continue to grow.
